Greening at Christ Church
Advent 2009

The Christ Church community enjoyed an evening of laughter and joy as we "greened" the church for Advent and the anticipation of Christmas.
(Please place your mouse over the photo for comments.)
Thank you to Janice Hanson for many memorable photos of the event.

Here are the pictures from the final phase of the refurbishing project at St. Paul's. The painting, flooring and carpet are now finished and it looks terrific.

The finished Chancel and Aisle, a job well done.
It was a long process; and we are all glad it's finished
as well as proud of the new look. More pictures of the
process can be seen below.

The new carpet will be installed the week of July 14. After painting, pulling carpet from the crossing, aisle and rear, and refinishing the floors, we are on the last leg of the journey. The next to last section to be tackled for us was the chancel area. The final portion for us will be to put everything back.

In these pictures, you can see Dwayne Roedel working on the floors. Despite the dust, you can begin to see the difference between the old dark finish and the sanded floors. Upon completion, the floors are now much brighter and almost match the altar. Dwayne also found an original brand from what we think were the flooring contractors in 1902. Apparently it was common practice to brand your company name in the floor. And finally a shot of the new paint job and refinished floor side by side.

As noted on the main page of the website, the refurbishing project is underway. The Choir/Sanctuary area was painted the week of May 19 and the nave will be painted the week of May 25, with the floors being refinished the week of June 1. Here are pictures from the painting and the preparation:

On April 13, 2008, the Sheridan Volunteer Fired Department held a training exercise consisting of a controlled house burn. Departments from Twin Bridges and Virginia City were present, as well as the Madison County Incident Response Team. Fr. Todd took time off from his day job that Sunday and participated in the exercise. Here are a few photos of the event as (mostly) taken by his wife, Joelene.

These are pictures of the progress on the painting of the church. The first picture with the brown doors is the actual condition the doors and church were in when I arrived in 2004.

New red doors and white area to match the Bell Tower. The congregation didn't approve of the white, so we found another color -- 515-4 Moth Gray. Our painter, Norm Pederson, and his helper are seen here painting the eaves.
